Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 12:14 AM EDT Jun. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 am EDT this
morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Kentucky, northeast Kentucky, south
central Kentucky, and southeast Kentucky, including the
following areas, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott,
Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell, and Rowan. In
northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central
Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, and
Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd,
Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin,
Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe.

* Until 8 am EDT this morning

* showers and thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall to portions of
eastern Kentucky Friday afternoon and evening. Although the
heavy widespread rains have exited the region, isolated showers
may move across eastern Kentucky overnight, impacting areas that
have already been hit by heavy rains and therefore continuing
their flood potential.

* Flash flooding of creeks and streams will be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
