Afternoon temperatures will reach well into the 90s today through
Saturday, with heat index values near or above 100 degrees. The
hottest day will be Friday, with heat indices possibly exceeding
105 degrees in some locations. The best chance for dangerously hot
conditions will be along and west of Interstate 65, and in urban
Louisville.

Those planning outdoor activities later this week should take
frequent breaks in the shade, drink plenty of water, and limit
strenuous activities during the early and mid afternoon hours.
Monitor later forecasts for updates and possible advisories.

Afternoon temperatures will reach well into the 90s today through
Saturday, with heat index values near or above 100 degrees. The
hottest day will be Friday, with heat indices possibly exceeding

alert... in effect until midnight EDT Thursday night.

A code Orange air quality alert for ozone has been issued for the
Louisville Metro area.

Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The
general public is not likely to be affected. Sensitive groups include
the elderly... children... persons with asthma or other breathing
problems... and persons with lung and heart disease. People in these
groups are advised to limit their outdoor activities to reduce their
exposure to ozone and particulate pollution.
