The National Weather Service in New Orleans/Baton Rouge has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the east hobolochitto creek near Caesar.
* From this afternoon to late tonight.
* At 8:45 am Tuesday the stage was 10.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is expected to continue rising until cresting at
or near flood stage by early this afternoon. The river is expected to
fall below flood stage by late this evening.
* Impact... at 15.0 feet... water over a few roads in the city of
Picayune will cause traffic problems. School bus traffic may need
alternate routes. A few homes on Northwood Drive will be
threatened. Beech street and Westchester subdivision below the
confluence of the east and west branches is subject to flooding in
low places.
* Impact... at 12.0 feet... water will pool on isolated low areas of
unimproved roads near the creek. Minor overflow will occur in
agricultural areas near stream.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... bankfull at gage. Some minor overflow will
occur in flood plain downstream of gage.

* From Saturday afternoon to late Saturday night.
* At 8:00 am Tuesday the stage was 10.1 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is expected to continue rising until cresting at
or near flood stage by Saturday afternoon. The river is expected to
fall below flood stage by late Saturday evening.

* Flood Warning for
the Pearl River near Bogalusa.
* From late Wednesday night to late Friday night.
* At 8:00 am Tuesday the stage was 14.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is expected to rise above flood stage by late
Wednesday night and then continue rising until cresting at around
18.5 feet by Thursday evening. The river is expected to fall below
flood stage by Friday evening.
* Impact... at 18.5 feet... Woodlands and crop acreage along the river
will be flooded. The Bogue Chitto wildlife management area will be
inundated with water in recreational camps and over access roads.
* Impact... at 17.0 feet... Woodlands and crop acreage along the river
will be flooded.
* Impact... at 16.0 feet... Woodlands along the river and wildlife
management property will be flooded

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the
following areas, in southeast Louisiana, East Feliciana,
northern Tangipahoa, southern Tangipahoa, St. Helena, St.
Tammany, Washington, and West Feliciana. In Mississippi,
Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike,
Walthall, and Wilkinson.

* Through this evening

* additional rainfall accumulations of 2 to 3 inches are possible
over isolated locations.

* Impacts include flooding of low lying and poorly drained areas,
rises on area rivers and streams, possibly to flood levels.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
