Issued: 2:43 PM MST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 PM MST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a
Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow... which is
in effect until 6 PM MST Wednesday. The Winter Weather Advisory is
no longer in effect.

* Locations include the cities of... Columbine... Hahns Peak...
Toponas... Buford... Trappers Lake.

* Timing... periods of snow... heavy at times... will continue
through Wednesday.

* Snow accumulation... 8 to 16 inches with locally higher amounts
over the higher terrain of The Flat Tops and park ranges.

* Winds... southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph this
evening... shifting to the west and decreasing to 10 to 20 mph
with gusts to 30 mph by Tuesday morning.

* Impacts... mountain roadways will be snow packed with winter
driving conditions continuing through the middle of the week.
Visibilities will be reduced to under a half mile at times
during the heaviest snowfall and blowing snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
