Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 5:29 PM EDT Jul. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning for central Hocking County remains in
effect until 700 PM EDT...

At 528 PM EDT, radar indicated that thunderstorms were producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen. Heavy rain continues to fall with another inch
possible. Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash
flooding to occur. Rain should end by 6 PM but flash flooding may
continue as runoff reaches small creeks and streams.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Logan, Nelsonville, Murray City, Enterprise, Rockbridge, Lake Logan
State Park, Haydenville and Carbon Hill.

... The Flash Flood Warning for southern Fairfield and northeastern
Hocking counties remains in effect until 715 PM EDT...

At 526 PM EDT, radar and automated rain gauges indicated that
thunderstorms had produced heavy rain over the area. The heavy
rainfall has ended across the area. However, runoff from the earlier
excessive rain will cause flash flooding to occur.Radar and gauges
indicate that 2 to 3 inches of rain fell in a short amount of time
on saturated soils.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life
particularly if you live close to small streams or creeks.

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:40 PM EDT Jul. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* flood advisory for...
central Fairfield County in central Ohio...
north central Hocking County in central Ohio...

* until 645 PM EDT.

* At 339 PM EDT, radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain
moving slowly across the area, with torrential rainfall rates in
excess of 2 inches per hour. More storms are lining up to the west
and could lead to even more significant flooding later this
afternoon.

* Minor flooding of low-lying and poorly drained streets, highways
and underpasses will occur. In addition, farmland near creeks,
streams and drainage ditches will experience minor flooding.

Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...
Lancaster, Bremen, Hide-A-Way Hills, Royalton, Lithopolis, Amanda,
Carroll, Sugar Grove, Rushville, West Rushville, Fairfield County
Airport, US Route 22 at State Route 159, Hideaway Hills, North Berne
and Dumontville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
