... Forecast flooding increased from moderate to major severity...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Fishing River near Mosby.
* At 8:31 PM Friday the stage was 10.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 30.0 feet by early Saturday morning. The river will fall
below flood stage by late Saturday morning.
* At 27.0 feet... east Mosby Road is flooded. All roads into or out of
Mosby are under water and impassable. Water also reaches the bottom
of the northbound U.S. Highway 69 bridge.
* At 26.0 feet... 6th street is flooded. East Mosby Road is the only
passable Road into or out of town.
* At 25.0 feet... both Pony express Road north of the city and 3rd
street on the south side of Mosby are flooded. 6th street and east
Mosby Road are the only passable roads into or out of town.
* At 18.0 feet... fields near Mosby flood and a low-water crossing on
west Road is impassable.

* From this evening to Sunday morning.
* At 9:30 PM Friday the stage was 28.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 33.8 feet by
early Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood stage
Saturday morning.
* At 30.5 feet... bridge street, Main Street, State Route dd, and
State Route f begin to flood.

southwestern Clay County in west central Missouri...

* until 145 am CDT

* at 943 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the
warned area. Life threatening flash flooding is already occurring!

This is a flash flood emergency for the Kansas City
Metro... particularly the downtown Kansas City area! This is a
particularly dangerous situation. Seek higher ground now!

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City... Overland Park... Independence... Shawnee... Lenexa...
Leawood... Raytown... Liberty... Gladstone... Prairie Village...
Merriam... mission... Edwardsville... North Kansas City... Fairway...

Leavenworth... Wyandotte... Clinton... Platte... Clay and southeastern
Buchanan counties...

At 928 PM CDT... emergency management reported heavy rain and
significant flash flooding in the downtown Kansas City area. Up to
three inches of rain has fallen and additional heavy rain is
expected this evening and overnight. Dangerous flash flooding is
occurring.
