Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 5:32 PM CDT Jul. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory now in effect until 7 PM CDT Thursday...
... Excessive heat warning is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Memphis has cancelled the
excessive heat warning.

* Heat index readings... 102 to 109 degrees.

* Timing... peak index values likely 2 PM CDT through 6 PM CDT
Wednesday.

* Impacts... these conditions will lead to an increased risk of
heat-related illnesses. Heat stroke and dehydration will be
possible for those performing strenuous outdoor activities.
The interior of a vehicle can reach lethal temperatures in a
short period of time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
