Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:24 PM PDT Mar. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 am PDT
Saturday...

* timing: snow will diminish to scattered snow showers during the
evening hours.

* Additional snow accumulations: 2 to 5 inches with locally up to
8 inches above 7000 feet.

* Snow levels: near 6000 feet... then falling to the valley floors
during the evening.

* Winds: southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Sierra ridge
gusts up to 85 mph this evening.

* Lake Tahoe wave heights: 1 to 3 feet with highest waves from
mid lake to the north and east shores.

* Impacts: snow and gusty winds will produce slick travel
conditions and delays on major travel routes across the Sierra
and Tahoe basin, especially through this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during
periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to
reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.
