* At 601 PM EDT, radar,automated rain gauges, sheriff dispatch
report that heavy rain ranging from 2 to 4 inches has fallen since
3 PM over the area. Heavy rain had ended diminished to light and
moderate rain, but many roads remain under water with many lowland
areas flooded. While the threat for flash flooding has ended,
flooding of low lying areas will continue to pose a problem into
the evening hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cincinnati, Covington, Florence, Norwood, Erlanger, Fort Thomas,
Newport, Blue Ash, Loveland, reading, Montgomery, Madeira,
Edgewood, Elsmere, Wyoming, Cheviot, Fort Mitchell, Villa Hills,
Highland Heights and Milford.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

southwestern Highland County in southwestern Ohio...

* until 800 PM EDT.

* At 455 PM EDT, radar and automated rain gauges indicated that
thunderstorms had produced heavy rain over the area. 1 to 3 inches
of rain have fallen Alread. Heavy rain continues to fall with
another 1 to 2 inches possible in some areas. Runoff from this
excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to occur. Areas of
changing terrain will see the most vulnerability to flash
flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Covington, Florence, Independence, Erlanger, Edgewood, Alexandria,
Elsmere, Highland Heights, Taylor Mill, Walton, Rising Sun,
Claryville, Oakbrook, Union, Amelia, Crittenden, Mount Orab,
Wilder, Bethel and New Richmond.

Flash Flood Watch, Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 5:30 PM EDT Jun. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 2 am EDT Saturday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, including
the following areas, in southeast Indiana, Dearborn, Ohio,
Ripley, and Switzerland. In Kentucky, Boone, Bracken,
Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Lewis, Mason,
Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson. In Ohio, Adams, Brown,
Clermont, Hamilton, Highland, Hocking, Pike, Ross, and Scioto.

* Until 2 am EDT Saturday

* a band of showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain will
continue to sag southeast this evening. A widespread one to
three inches of rain is occurring today. Isolated totals of
three to five inches will be possible. Some local weather
station reports already show totals above four inches. Showers
and thunderstorms will come to an end late tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People in the watch area should keep an eye on the weather and be
prepared for immediate action should heavy rains and flooding
occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued. Avoid low-lying areas,
and be careful when approaching Highway dips and underpasses.

central Gallatin County in northern Kentucky...

* until 730 PM EDT.

* At 423 PM EDT, radar indicated areas of heavy rain continuing to
develop and moved across the advisory area. Rainfall rates up to
two inches per hour will cause urban flooding, as well as flooding
along small creeks and streams, and in poorly drained areas.

* Minor flooding of low-lying and poorly drained streets, highways
and underpasses will occur. In addition, farmland near creeks,
streams and drainage ditches will experience minor flooding.

Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...
Covington, Florence, Independence, Erlanger, Edgewood, Alexandria,
Elsmere, Taylor Mill, Walton, Claryville, Union, Crittenden, Wilder,
New Richmond, Warsaw, Silver Grove, Melbourne, Cold Spring, Ryland
Heights and Crestview.
