southwestern Anne Arundel County in central Maryland...
northeastern Prince Georges County in central Maryland...

* until 245 PM EDT Saturday

* at 842 am EDT, the broadcast media reported flooding in the
Patuxent River basin. Route 4 was closed near Bristol due to
flooding.

* Some other locations that may experience flooding include...
Bowie, Crofton, Odenton, and Fort Meade.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

east central Prince Georges County in central Maryland...

* until 230 PM EDT Saturday

* at 815 am EDT, reporting gauges indicate the western branch near
Upper Marlboro continues to flood. The stream continues to rise.
At these stream levels, Water Street and race tack Road are
flooded.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Upper Marlboro.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, and
West Virginia, including the following areas, in Maryland,
Anne Arundel, Calvert, Carroll, central and eastern Allegany,
central and southeast Howard, central and southeast
Montgomery, Charles, extreme western Allegany, Frederick MD,
northern Baltimore, northwest Harford, northwest Howard,
northwest Montgomery, Prince Georges, southeast Harford,
southern Baltimore, St. Marys, and Washington. The District of
Columbia. In Virginia, Arlington/Falls Church/Alexandria,
Clarke, Culpeper, eastern Loudoun, Fairfax, Frederick VA,
Greene, King George, Madison, northern Fauquier, northern
Virginia Blue Ridge, Orange, Page, Prince
William/Manassas/Manassas Park, Rappahannock, Shenandoah,
southern Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warren, and western
Loudoun. In West Virginia, Berkeley, eastern Grant, eastern
Mineral, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Morgan, western Grant,
and western Mineral.

* Through Saturday afternoon

* low pressure will move across Virginia overnight and move slowly
off the coast through Saturday. Additional rainfall amounts of 1
to 3 inches are expected through Saturday afternoon. Locally
higher amounts are likely especially across far northern
Virginia and north central and central Maryland.

* Heavy rainfall may result in rapid rises in streams and
creeks. This could quickly result in flooding... especially in
low lying and poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions... Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Saturated ground from recent heavy rain is causing shallow rooted
and weakened trees to uproot even in the absence of significant
wind. Individuals driving or walking in wooded areas, especially
those adjacent to creeks, rivers, streams and lakes, should
exercise extreme caution today.
