The Flood Warning continues for
the Blackwater river at Valley City.
* From this afternoon to Tuesday afternoon.
* At 3:00 PM Saturday the stage was 22.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 32.0 feet by
early Sunday afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
Monday afternoon.
* At 31.0 feet... extensive flooding of rural property and many roads
occurs.
* At 25.0 feet... County Highway E near Valley City and Highway 23
near the Perry State Wildlife Area are under water.
* At 22.0 feet... Woodlands and farm fields along the river begin to
flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Big Creek at Blairstown.
* From this afternoon to Tuesday afternoon.
* At 3:00 PM Saturday the stage was 23.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 27.0 feet by
early Sunday afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
Monday afternoon.
* At 26.0 feet... many farm levees along Big Creek are overtopped.
Flooding of rural areas behind the levees occurs.
* At 23.0 feet... flooding occurs at the west approach to the N
Highway bridge located 0.2 miles west of Blairstown. Flooding also
occurs across b Highway near Big Creek which is several miles
northwest of Blairstown.
* At 20.0 feet... the West Bank of the creek begins to flood.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Cass County in west central Missouri...
Henry County in west central Missouri...
Bates County in west central Missouri...
Pettis County in central Missouri...
Cooper County in central Missouri...
Johnson County in west central Missouri...

* until 130 am CDT Sunday

* at 127 PM CDT, emergency management officials reported flooded
roadways across several locations in west-central and central
Missouri. Over two inches of rain has already fallen, and
additional periods of heavy rain are expected this evening and
overnight. Several roadways have been closed due to high water,
and additional Road closures are possible.


* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Belton, Sedalia, Raymore, Warrensburg, Harrisonville, Clinton,
Boonville, Pleasant Hill, Greenwood, peculiar, Butler, Windsor,
Knob Noster, Holden, Adrian, Garden City, Rich Hill and Whiteman
Air Force Base.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Flash Flood Watch

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in east central Kansas, Linn KS and Miami. In
Missouri, Bates, Carroll, Cass, Chariton, Cooper, Henry,
Howard, Johnson MO, Lafayette, Pettis, Randolph, and Saline.

* Through Sunday evening

* up to 3 inches of rainfall has already occurred in the watch
area, and an additional 1-2 inches is possible this evening and
tonight. While most flooding should occur in low-lying areas and
along rivers and streams, occasional flash flooding is possible
during periods of heavy rainfall, especially in urban areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
