The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Vincennes.
* From late tonight until further notice.
* At 9:45 PM Sunday the stage was 15.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by after midnight tomorrow and
continue to rise to near 20.4 feet by Saturday evening.
* At 20.0 feet... Kimmell Park at Vincennes is extensively flooded.
River Cabins begin to flood. Extensive lowland flooding occurs in
unprotected areas.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Riverton.
* Until further notice.
* At 10:00 PM Sunday the stage was 17.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 21.5 feet by
Friday early afternoon then begin falling.
* At 22.0 feet... flooding becomes more serious. Water is approaching
critical levels on most levees. Flooding enters some river Cabins.
Flooding is at the outskirts of Palestine and Russellville,
Illinois. Flood waters near Illinois 33 between Palestine and
Hutsonville, Illinois. Many local river roads are flooded.

the Wabash River at Hutsonville legacy Power Plant site.
* Until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 22.4
feet early Friday morning.
* At 22.0 feet... river Cabins become isolated. Basement flooding
begins in Hutsonville. Extensive agricultural flooding is in
progress. Higher Illinois rural roads in eastern Clark and
Crawford counties flood.

the Embarras River at Lawrenceville.
* Until Tuesday may 09.
* At 845 PM Sunday the stage was 31.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 36.6 feet by
Wednesday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Monday
evening.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet... the Road across Poteet bridge floods. Some
houses are isolated.

* Flood Warning for...
Coles County in east central Illinois...
Lawrence County in southeastern Illinois...
Crawford County in east central Illinois...

Richland County in southeastern Illinois...
Cumberland County in east central Illinois...

* at 1158 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
flooding. Rainfall amounts up to 5 inches of rain have fallen the
past few days, with an additional inch or two likely today. Law
enforcement indicates areas of ongoing flooding from the previous
rainfall, which will be worsened by additional rain.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Danville, Charleston, Mattoon, Vincennes, Effingham, Olney, Paris,
Robinson, Flora, Shelbyville, Tuscola, Sullivan, Lawrenceville,
Marshall, Newton, Toledo, Savoy, St. Joseph, Georgetown and Tolono.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 57 between mile markers 143 and 228.
Interstate 70 between mile markers 79 and 154.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 195 and 220.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 am CDT Monday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois, southeast
Illinois, and west central Illinois, including the following
areas, in central Illinois, Christian, De Witt, Logan, Macon,
Marshall, Mason, McLean, Menard, Peoria, Piatt, Shelby,
Tazewell, and Woodford. In east central Illinois, Champaign,
Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie, and
Vermilion. In southeast Illinois, Clay, Crawford, Effingham,
Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland. In west central Illinois,
Cass, Morgan, and Scott.

* Until 7 am CDT Monday

* periods of heavy rainfall are expected through this evening.
Around another 1 inch of rain is expected by midnight tonight,
with locally 1 to 2 inch amounts from heavier rains in
stronger thunderstorms. The threat of heavy rain will diminish
with passage of a cold front during mid evening, but runoff
from heavy rains will likely continue through tonight.

* In addition to potential flooding of streets and roads in
flood prone areas, area rivers and streams are also likely to
experience flooding. This would persist for several days after
the rain ends.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation
especially if driving. Never drive across a flooded roadway. You
should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
