Issued: 2:25 PM PST Jan. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 am PST Monday...

* timing... heavy snow and strong gusty winds return late tonight
and continue into early Monday.

* Locations... Interstate 80 over Donner Pass, Highway 50 over
Echo Summit, Highway 88 over Carson Pass and Lassen Volcanic
National Park.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 4 feet of snow above 4000 feet with
6 to 12 inches down to around 3000 feet. Local accumulations
up to 6 feet possible across the higher elevations. Snowfall
rates of 2 inches or more an hour at times late tonight and Sunday.

* Main impacts... snow covered roads with chain controls and
white out conditions. Road closures possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food,
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
