Watches & Warnings

Coastal Flood Watch, Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 4:44 AM EDT May. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory now in effect until 2 am EDT Friday...
... Coastal Flood Watch in effect late tonight...

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington DC has
issued a coastal Flood Watch, which is in effect late tonight.

* Locations... sensitive portions along shoreline of St Marys
County.

* Tidal departure... around 1.7 feet above normal.

* Timing... for a couple of hours around high tide this afternoon
and late tonight. High tide at Coltons Point is at 3:22 PM
today. High tide at Piney Point is at 2:46 PM this afternoon.
High tide at Point Lookout is at 1:37 PM today.

* Impacts... water is expected to cover roads on St. Georges
island, be in yards, and approach structures. To the east,
inundation is expected at multiple marinas off St. Mary's River,
Smith Creek, and Jutland Creek. Shoreline inundation is
possible elsewhere.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

Forecast tides are referenced to mean lower low water
(mllw) and mean higher high water (mhhw) unless
otherwise noted. Time of high total tide is
approximate to nearest hour. Total tide combines the
normal tide and departure from normal. Flood impact
is based on the total tide and waves where applicable.
