... High surf advisory remains in effect from 6 am this morning to 6 PM EDT this
evening...

* location: Maryland and the lower Virginia Eastern Shore beaches.

* Timing: high surf expected this morning through this afternoon.
Shallow flooding possible around the time of high tide this evening.

* Coastal flood impacts: shallow flooding is possible in the most vulnerable
locations near the Waterfront and shoreline.

* Shoreline impacts: breaking waves will result in beach erosion with only
minor damage possible to dune structures.

* Surf and rip current risk: large breaking waves of 8 to 9 feet will result
in dangerous surf conditions. Do not enter or approach the water due to the
risk of being swept away.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory
area... producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.

* areas affected: portions of the lower Eastern Shore near the
Atlantic coast.

* Winds: east 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Timing: Tuesday morning through midday.

* Impacts: strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Scattered power outages are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be
31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of
these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra
precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use
caution until the winds subside.
