Coastal Flood Advisory, Beach Hazard Statement, Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 6:03 PM EDT Sep. 30, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 am EDT Saturday...
... Beach hazards statement remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...
... High rip current risk remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...

* location: ocean side of Worcester County Maryland... and Bay Side of Accomack
and Northampton counties of Virginia.

* Hazards: minor coastal flooding... a high risk for rip currents and dangerous
shore break along the ocean.

* Timing: within a few hours either side of the high tide cycle through
Saturday morning. Highest threat for rip currents occurs within the few
hours prior to low tide... although dangerous rip currents will be possible
at any time through this evening.

* Impacts: inundation of water in and near low-lying coastal areas could lead
to Road closures and flooding of property. Dangerous shorebreak of 4 feet or
greater can cause neck and spinal injuries... affecting even the most able
swimmers.

* Surf height: 5 to 7 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds... wave action and / or
tides will combine to create flooding of low areas along the shore... and near
tidal rivers and creeks. Be prepared for the possibility of Road closures and
minor flooding of properties. If travel is necessary... do not attempt to drive
through water of unknown depth.

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip currents...
longshore currents... large breaking waves and other hazards are possible.
Caution should be used when in or near the water.
