... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Friday afternoon through
Saturday morning...

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central Kentucky,
northeast Kentucky, south central Kentucky, and southeast
Kentucky, including the following areas, in east central
Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery,
Powell, and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin.
In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski,
Rockcastle, Wayne, and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell,
Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee,
Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and
Wolfe.

* From Friday afternoon through Saturday morning

* showers and thunderstorms containing very heavy rainfall will
move across eastern Kentucky Friday afternoon through early
Saturday morning.

* Flash flooding of creeks and streams will be possible, with the
higher threat of flash flooding occurring along and north of a
line from McKee to Jackson to Inez, where 2 to 3 inches of rain
may fall in 6 hours or less. Locally higher amounts will be
possible.

* Depending on where the axis of heavy rainfall falls, some minor
flooding along portions of the Kentucky, Licking, and Red River
basins may occur.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
