Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:57 PM MDT Jul. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
southwestern Taos County in north central New Mexico...
southeastern Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico...

* until 600 PM MDT.

* At 356 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Arroyo and small stream flooding in
the advisory area as well as ponding of water on roads and low
lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Espanola, Youngsville, Gallina, Embudo, Abiquiu, Dixon, Velarde,
Rinconada, Chili and Alcalde.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

The heavy rainfall and slow movement of these storms may result in
flooding of Road intersections and low lying areas. Waters may begin
to run in normally dry arroyos.
