... High wind watch remains in effect from Thursday morning
through Thursday afternoon...
... Wind Advisory will expire at 6 PM MST this evening...

* location... much of northeast and east central New Mexico.

* Winds... west 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph Thursday.

* Timing... winds will subside some this evening, but will
strengthen rapidly early Thursday morning, peaking early to mid
afternoon before slowly diminishing.

* Visibility... may be locally reduced to 3 miles in blowing dust.

* Local impacts... drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
high-profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution,
especially on north to south oriented highways including
Interstate 25 from Las Vegas to Raton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember, a high wind watch means conditions are favorable for a
potentially damaging high wind event in and close to the watch
area. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph
or more can lead to property damage. Monitor the latest forecasts
at weather.Gov/abq, listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite
media outlet.

Thursday...
... Red flag warning will expire at 6 PM MST this evening...

* area and timing... northeast Highlands, northeast and east
Central Plains Thursday afternoon into the early evening.

* 20 foot winds... west 25 to 45 mph with gusts of 55 to 65 mph
Thursday.

* Relative humidity... minimum values of 8 to 14 percent with the
lowest values across the east Central Plains.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and
will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extreme fire
behavior will be possible. Outdoor burning should not be done.
