Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 4:16 AM CDT Apr. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 am CDT this
morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northwest Arkansas and west central Arkansas...
including the following counties... in northwest Arkansas...
Benton... Carroll... Crawford... Madison and Washington AR. In
west central Arkansas... Franklin and Sebastian.

* Until 7 am CDT this morning

* scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist across western
Arkansas early this morning and may produce locally heavy
rainfall across areas that have received excessive rainfall.
Most of the significant precipitation will shift east of the
area after 7 am.

* Numerous roads and many low water crossings remain flooded.
Additionally, many rivers are in flood stage including major
flooding along the Illinois River. Beaver Lake Dam in
northwest Arkansas has also begun to release water which will
impact areas downstream.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you are in the watch area, keep informed, and be ready for
quick action if flash flooding is observed or if a warning is
issued. Persons living in low lying areas along main-Stem rivers
should monitor the latest forecast and be ready to evacuate to
higher ground.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the Road
to unknown depths. Take a different Route to reach your
destination or wait until the water recedes. Remember, most flood
related deaths occur in automobiles and flooding is the leading
cause of weather related deaths.

A Flash Flood Watch means rapidly rising water or flooding is
possible within the watch area.
