Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 12:13 AM EDT Apr. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
Rhea County in eastern Tennessee...
Loudon County in eastern Tennessee...
Meigs County in eastern Tennessee...
McMinn County in eastern Tennessee...
Monroe County in eastern Tennessee...
Roane County in eastern Tennessee...

* until 615 am EDT Monday

* at 1209 am EDT, reports of flooding continue to come in for the
warned area. Several issues on area roadways continue from the
recent heavy rainfall. Several inches of rain have already fallen
recently. Even though the rainfall is over, the local creeks and
streams will remain elevated across the warned area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Oak Ridge, Athens, Lenoir City, Dayton, Kingston, Sweetwater,
Rockwood, Loudon, Madisonville, Decatur, Farragut, Fairview,
Etowah, Oliver Springs, Spring City, Charleston, Midtown, Harriman,
Englewood and Graysville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
