... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 8 PM PST this
evening...

* locations... southern Sierra Nevada above 3000 feet.

* Hazard types... heavy snow and blowing snow.

* Accumulations... additional snow accumulation 2 to 5 inches.

* Winds... west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Timing... periods of heavy snow will be possible due to scattered
showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snow levels will lower to
near 3000.

* Impacts... the snowfall will create slippery and snow covered
roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

this evening...

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of central California...
including the following areas... Kern County mountains...
Mariposa, Madera, and Fresno County foothills... Tulare County
foothills and Tulare County mountains.

* Until 8 PM PST this evening

* showers and isolated thunderstorms... some with heavy downpours
and small hail... will bring additional rainfall and the
potential for flash flooding in some localities through early
this evening.

* Residents living near small streams and creeks should closely
monitor water levels today and be preapred to move to higher
ground if flooding becomes imminent. Roads could become flooded
or impassable and may be covered by mud and debris. Landslides
and Rockslides are also possible in addition to downed trees
and power lines.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
