... High surf advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PDT this
evening...

* surf... of 8 to 10 feet will persist through late this
evening... highest on west to northwest facing beaches. The surf
will slowly diminish late this evening through Tuesday morning.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks... and capsize small boats
nearshore.

* Locations... highest surf will be on west and northwest facing
beaches.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught
in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the
current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If
unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

the Nipomo Mesa area. This air quality alert is in effect until 7 PM
PDT this evening.

Exposure to particle pollution can cause serious health problems...
aggravate lung disease... cause asthma attacks and acute bronchitis...
and increase risk of respiratory infections.

Residents are advised to use caution as conditions warrant. People
with heart or lung disease should follow their doctors advice for
dealing with episodes of blowing dust.

Additionally... older adults and children should avoid prolonged
exposure... strenuous activity or heavy exertion... as conditions
dictate.
