... A Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams remains in
effect until 1145 PM EDT for south central Mecklenburg and Union
counties...

At 624 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated an
area of heavy rainfall across the warned area. Rainfall amounts of 3
to 4 inches has already fallen, with another 1 to 2 inches of rain
possible into the late evening.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Monroe, Weddington, Wesley Chapel, Wingate, Waxhaw, Marshville,
Mineral Springs, Marvin, sturdivants and jaars.

* Scattered, nuisance stream flooding is possible, including along:
Stewarts Creek, Richardson Creek, Salem creek, Beaverdam creek,
Buffalo Creek, Lanes Creek, West Fork Twelvemile creek, Flat
Branch, and Sixmile Creek.

* Some streets may be impacted, including: Stafford St, Charlotte
Ave, Curtis Rd and Sutherland Ave, Macedonia church Rd and medlin
Rd, Austin Grove church Rd, Taylors St, Chestnut ln, and Antioch
church Rd

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, highways, and underpasses. Additionally, country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks, streams, and other
low-lying areas are subject to flooding.

flowing over roads or threatening property to the National Weather

* until 1030 PM EDT Monday

* at 428 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain has already
fallen across parts of the region. Some areas have had 2 to 4
inches of rain the last couple of days. Moderate rain will move
back into the region this evening, and this will slow the response
of rivers and creeks in their abatement. New rainfall could reach
up to 1.5 inches.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
downtown Concord, northeast Charlotte, West Concord, Mint Hill,
Indian Trail, Unionville, Harrisburg, Lake park, Hemby Bridge and
Reedy Creek Park.

* The following stream gauges will exceed minor flood stage: the
Rocky River above irish Buffalo Creek, Mallard creek below Stony
Creek near Harrisburg.

* Other minor flooding of small and large streams is likely.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of Piedmont North Carolina, including the following
areas, Alexander, Cabarrus, Catawba, Davie, Iredell,
Mecklenburg, Rowan, and Union.

* Through Tuesday morning

* additional bands of moderate rain showers will likely move west
across the North Carolina Piedmont through the early morning
hours. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches could impact
saturated areas where upwards of 3 to 5 inches have already
fallen over the past two days. Rivers and streams surrounding
the Interstate 77 corridor area are already running at elevated
levels, and additional flooding could develop near swollen
streams. Ongoing flooding could worsen as well.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

* at 711 PM EDT, Doppler radar continued to show pockets of heavy
rain redeveloping across the area. About 3 to 4 inches of rain has
already fallen, with another 1.5 inches possible into the evening
hours. This additional heavy rain which will cause urban and small
stream flooding concerns in the advisory area.

* Some locations that most prone include... Gastonia, Uptown
Charlotte, Huntersville, Lincolnton, central Charlotte, south
Charlotte, southwest Charlotte, East Charlotte, northwest
Charlotte and Matthews.

* Remain alert for rapid rises in creeks and streams, along with
flooding at low water crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, streets
and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying
spots. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams will also occur,
possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.
