... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 PM to 9 PM MDT Monday...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from 1 PM to 9 PM MDT Monday.

* Location... from the central and south central mountains and
Highlands westward to the Arizona border, as well as the higher
peaks and east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and the
Chuska Mountains. This advisory excludes the San Francisco River
Valley.

* Winds... west and southwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50
mph.

* Timing... winds will strengthen around mid day, then become
hazardous during the afternoon. Speeds should peak in strength
in the mid to late afternoon, then weaken through early evening,
except at the highest elevations where strong winds may persist
through Monday night.

* Visibility... locally reduce at times in dust prone locations.

* Local impacts... strong cross winds will impact north-to-south
roads, like I-25 southward from Bernalillo through Socorro.
Light-weight and unsecured objects may become airborne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a red flag
warning... which is in effect from 10 am to 9 PM MDT Monday. The
Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Area and timing... much of northern and central New Mexico,
beginning late Monday morning and continuing into Monday
evening.

* 20 foot winds... generally west 20 to 30 mph with gusts to near
40 mph.

* Relative humidity... 5 to 10 percent below snowpack.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning.
