Wilmington, Burgaw, Wrightsville Beach, Surf City, Rich Inlet, Figure
Eight Island, Hampstead, Topsail Beach, Maple Hill, Cape Fear

and Murray Town.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two are possible in the warned

If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

Coastal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:52 PM EDT Apr. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory in effect from 7 PM to 11 PM EDT this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a coastal
flood advisory, which is in effect from 7 PM to 11 PM EDT this
evening.

* Location... lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington.

* Coastal flooding... minor coastal flooding is expected to occur this
evening. High tide on the downtown Wilmington river gauge will
reach 6.1 feet MLLW.

* Timing... high tide will occur around 9 PM EDT

* impacts... minor flooding will occur mainly on the West Bank of the
Cape Fear River affecting the North Carolina battleship parking lot
and a portion of battleship drive. A few inches of water will rise
through storm drains and spread onto Water Street near the Market
street intersection.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will
combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

1016 am EDT Mon Apr 24 2017

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South
Carolina, including the following areas, in southeast North
Carolina, Bladen, coastal Brunswick, coastal New Hanover,
coastal Pender, Columbus, inland Brunswick, inland New
Hanover, inland Pender, and Robeson. In northeast South
Carolina, coastal Georgetown, coastal Horry, Darlington,
Dillon, Florence, inland Georgetown, inland Horry, Marion,
Marlboro, and Williamsburg.

* Through Tuesday morning

* heavy rain beginning today and tonight with rainfall of 3 to 7
inches expected. Locally higher amounts are possible.

* The ground will become saturated, increasing the potential for
flash flooding, especially in locations with poor drainage
such as urban areas or in and around culverts. Excessive
roadway ponding is also likely, and at times some roads may
become impassable, especially if drainage ditches overflow
onto roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
