Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 12:30 PM EDT Aug. 17, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this
afternoon...

* heat index values... up to 108 due to temperatures in the upper
80s to lower 90s, and dewpoints in the upper 70s.

* Timing... through late this afternoon.

* Impacts... high heat and humidity will increase the risk for
heat exhaustion and even heat stroke if precautionary measures
are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. To
reduce the risk of heat illness during outdoor work, the
occupational safety and health administration recommends
scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned
environments.
