Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:58 AM MST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from 11 am MST this
morning through midnight tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east-central... south-central and west-central
Arizona... including the following areas... in east-central
Arizona... southern Gila County/Tonto National Forest foothills. In
south-central Arizona... greater Phoenix area and northwest Maricopa
County. In west-central Arizona... west central deserts.

* From 11 am MST this morning through midnight tonight.

* Another Pacific storm is forecast to move into the region today and
this evening. Soil moisture in the deserts and foothills northwest
through east of Phoenix is extremely high... with several washes
still running from previous rains this weekend.

Additional rain forecast in the 0.50 to 1.00 inch range could lead
to flood or flash flooding in washes draining from the mountains
north through east of Phoenix.

Some of the larger washes prone to runoff include the Cave Creek
wash... tonto creek in southern Gila County... the Centennial Wash
draining toward Wenden in La Paz County... and the washes in and
around Wickenburg including the Hassayampa.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding of washes... creeks and
other drainage areas is possible within the watch area. If you
are in the watch area... you should watch the weather and be
prepared to take immediate action should heavy rain and flooding
occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued.
