Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 5:04 AM PDT Jul. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect from 3 PM PDT this
afternoon through Sunday evening...

* tides... highest tide of 6.9 to 7.1 feet at around 810 PM
Friday... 7 to 7.2 feet at around 9 PM Saturday... and 6.9 to
7.1 feet at around 945 PM Sunday.

* Timing... minor tidal overflow possible within an hour before
and after the time of highest tide each night.

* Impacts... minor flooding of low-lying coastal areas and beach
adjacent roads and parking lots. Possible impacted locations
include... but are not limited to... Sunset Beach... Oceanside...
Cardiff and La Jolla shores.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement for minor tidal overflow means that
high astronomical tides possibly in combination with above normal
surf will likely produce minor flooding of low-lying areas along
the beach such as beach parking lots. Coastal officials should
take the necessary precautionary measures to safeguard their
beaches.
