* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Garza County in northwestern Texas...
northeastern Lynn County in northwestern Texas...
southwestern Crosby County in northwestern Texas...
Lubbock County in northwestern Texas...
southwestern Hale County in northwestern Texas...

* until 815 PM CDT

* at 643 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. The West Texas mesonet site near Slaton
recorded 1.49 inches in the past hour... with rates in excess of
5 inches an hour.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lubbock... Slaton... Abernathy... Wolfforth... Shallowater... Idalou...
Ransom Canyon... Woodrow... Reese center... downtown Lubbock...
Southland... Texas tech University and New Deal.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will make minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and
underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
