Flood Warning
Issued: 9:30 PM CDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ouachita River at Thatcher l&d.
* From Sunday morning until further notice... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 8:45 PM Friday the stage was 77.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 79.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood elevation by late Sunday morning and
continue to rise to near 85.0 feet by Sunday, may 7th. This
forecast is based off of heavy rainfall forecasted this weekend.
Please monitor latest forecasts for any updates.
* Impacts at 79.0 feet... property in low lying areas needs to be
removed. Access roads to oil and gas rigs may be flooded. Levee gates
should be closed before the river reaches 80 feet. There is minor
flooding at this level.
* Impacts at 80.0 feet... levee gates should be closed to prevent the
river from backing into Calion Lake. Access to oil and gas rigs and
to Timber is flooded. There is wide coverage of flooding in the
river bottoms.
* Impacts at 83.0 feet... access to oil and gas rigs and to Timber is
flooded. Calhoun County Road 131 is completely under water leading
to old lock 8 river access.

... Lake Wind Advisory now in effect until 7 PM CDT Saturday...

* event... an enhanced pressure gradient across the Southern Plains
will result in periods of southerly winds 15- 20 mph with gusts
to 30-35 mph over much of East Texas, southern Arkansas, and
north Louisiana tonight and Saturday.

* Timing... from 11 am CDT this morning to 7 PM CDT Saturday.

* Impact... boaters should exercise caution on area lakes due to
rough chop conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
