Watches & Warnings

Coastal Flood Advisory, High Surf Advisory, Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 5:35 AM CDT Apr. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory remains in effect until 4 am CDT
Monday...
... High rip current risk remains in effect through late Sunday
night...
... High surf advisory remains in effect from noon today to 6 am
CDT Monday...

* coastal flooding... 2 to 3 feet above mean sea level near times
of high tides.

* Surf heights... 3 to 5 feet through tonight... increasing to 5 to
8 feet Sunday.

* Timing... through the weekend.

* Impacts... frequent life-threatening rip currents are expected.
The surf is dangerous for all levels of swimmers. The greatest
threat for minor coastal flooding will occur during afternoon
high tides.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents. Rip currents are life-
threatening to anyone entering the surf. Swim near a lifeguard.
If caught in a rip current remain calm. Don't fight the current.
Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape,
face the shore and call or wave for help. If tired, float or
tread water until out of the rip current.

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

Wind Advisory
Issued: 4:49 AM CDT Apr. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight CDT Sunday
night...

* timing... from this morning through Sunday night.

* Winds... south 15 to 25 mph with frequent gusts around 35 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 25 to 39 mph or frequent
gusts of 30 to 39 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make
driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.
