Watches & Warnings

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 3:21 PM MDT Apr. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning in effect from 11 am to 7 PM MST Monday for
strong winds, low relative humidity and high fire danger for the
southern portion of fire weather zone 151...

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a red flag
warning, which is in effect from 11 am to 7 PM MST Monday. The
Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Affected area... the southeast half of fire weather zone 151
including the Catalina, Rincon, huachuca, Whetstone and Santa
Rita mountain ranges.

* Timing... the warning is in effect from 11 am MST Monday morning
through 7 PM MST Monday evening.

* Winds... sustained 20-ft southerly winds less than 10 mph Monday
morning will shift to the southwest and increase to 15 to 25 mph
with gusts to 40 mph in the afternoon.

* Relative humidity... relative humidity will quickly decrease to
less than 15 percent by midday Monday, with minimum values of 5
to 10 percent in the late afternoon.

* Impacts... any fires that develop or are ongoing will have the
potential to spread rapidly, especially in areas with a high
dead grass Load.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or are expected to develop. A
combination of strong winds... low relative humidity... and dry
vegetation will create the potential for rapid and erratic fire
growth.

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of the red flag warning for portions of Southeast Arizona.
