The National Weather Service in Jackson has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
Lincoln County in south central Mississippi...

* until 945 PM CDT Wednesday

* at 917 am CDT, emergency management reported that many roads and
bridges still remained closed due to flooding around mainly
central and eastern portions of Lincoln County. Water is somewhat
receding in northern Lincoln County while areas south of the
Highway 84 corridor still are seeing flooded areas. Rainfall
estimates in the past 48 hours range from 5 to 10 inches across
these areas and earlier widespread flooding issues are only slowly
improving, even though rainfall ceased earlier yesterday.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Brookhaven, Enterprise, Ruth, Loyd Star, Bogue Chitto, Center
Point, West Lincoln, Vaughn and East Lincoln.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a heat
advisory, which is in effect from 7 am Thursday to 7 am CDT
Friday.

* Temperature... high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s with
peak afternoon heat index values ranging from 104 to 109
degrees.

* Impacts... heat related illnesses may be possible for those
outdoors in unshaded areas without proper precautions taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
