Coastal Flood Advisory, Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 5:12 PM CDT Aug. 30, 2016 – National Weather Service

... High rip current risk remains in effect through Friday
evening...
... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 7 PM CDT Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a coastal Flood
Advisory... which is in effect until 7 PM CDT Thursday.

* Coastal flooding... water levels 1 to 2 feet above ground level
possible especially during high tide... continuing through 7 PM
Thursday evening.

* Timing... through the end of the week.

* Impacts... frequent life-threatening rip currents are expected.
The surf is dangerous for all levels of swimmers.

* Impacts... minor flooding possible for all inland bays and sounds
and along all Gulf beaches for Alabama and northwest Florida.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents. Rip currents are life-
threatening to anyone entering the surf. Swim near a lifeguard. If
caught in a rip current remain calm. Don't fight the current. Swim
in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape... face
the shore and call or wave for help. If tired... float or tread water
until out of the rip current.

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that strong easterly winds and
tides above predicted levels will combine to generate flooding of
low areas along the shore.
