... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Pearl River near Pearl River.
* Until further notice.
* At 1:00 PM Saturday the stage was 15.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 17.0 feet by
Wednesday.
* Impact... at 17.0 feet... improved roads near the river will be
covered with low water. Gum bayou will back up flooding the lower
portions of streets in River Gardens subdivision. Secondary roads to
the river and throughout Honey Island Swamp will remain inundated.
Property in the vicinity of the gage is flooded threatening about
20 homes along the left bank.
* Impact... at 17.0 feet... when the river is fallling, water on low
lying property and over the lower portions of streets in River
Gardens subdivision will slowly begin to drain.
* Impact... at 16.0 feet... lower portions of streets in River Gardens
subdivision will begin to flood. Secondary roads to the river and
throughout Honey Island Swamp will remain inundated. Property in
the vicinity of the gage is flooded threatening about 20 homes
along the left bank. The Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge will
be closed to hunting at the 15.5 foot stage.

the Flood Warning continues for
the Pearl River near Bogalusa.
* Until further notice.
* At 1:00 PM Saturday the stage was 20.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 21.0 feet by
Tuesday and remain at that level through Thursday.
* Impact... at 21.0 feet... Woodlands and crop acreage along the river
will be flooded. The Bogue Chitto wildlife management area will be
inundated with water in recreational camps and over access roads.
At 21 feet, property east of Louisiana Highway 21 along Bogalusa
creek will begin to flood.
* Impact... at 20.0 feet... Woodlands and crop acreage along the river
will be flooded. The Bogue Chitto wildlife management area will be

The National Weather Service in New Orleans/Baton Rouge has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Bogue falaya river at Boston St in Covington.
* From late tonight to late Sunday night.
* At 1:30 PM Saturday the stage was 4.7 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage late tonight and
continue to rise to near 6.5 feet by tomorrow morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by tomorrow late evening.
* Impact... at 6.0 feet... the river will leave its banks under the
Boston street bridge and begin to flood the Boston towers property.

The National Weather Service in New Orleans/Baton Rouge has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Bogue Chitto river near Bush.
* From late Sunday night until further notice.
* At 1:15 PM Saturday the stage was 10.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Monday morning and
continue to rise to near 11.5 feet by Wednesday morning.
* Impact... at 11.0 feet... the access Road upstream of the bridge will
flood. The river will leave the Main Channel on the left bank below
the bridge flooding Woodlands on either side of Louisiana Highway
21.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... gravel pits upstream of Louisiana Highway 21
will begin to overflow threatening property at lower elevations on
either side of Highway 21 in the vicinity of the bridge.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT
tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the
following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Ascension,
Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville,
Livingston, lower Jefferson, lower Lafourche, lower
Plaquemines, lower St. Bernard, lower Terrebonne, northern
Tangipahoa, Orleans, Pointe Coupee, southern Tangipahoa, St.
Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St.
Tammany, upper Jefferson, upper Lafourche, upper Plaquemines,
upper St. Bernard, upper Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton
Rouge, and West Feliciana. In Mississippi, Amite, Hancock,
Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall, and Wilkinson.

* Until midnight CDT tonight

* additional rainfall accumulations of 2 to 3 inches are possible
through this evening over areas that remain saturated from
previous rains. In addition to the flash flooding potential
expect to see new rises on area rivers causing or extending the
flooding along several rivers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

At 258 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from brownfields to near Port Vincent to near
Springfield. Movement was northeast at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Baton Rouge, Hammond, Zachary, Baker, Denham Springs, Ponchatoula,
Walker, Livingston, French Settlement, Albany, Port Vincent,
Springfield, merrydale, Watson, Natalbany, Pride, Robert, Shenandoah,
brownfields and greenwell Spring.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
