... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South
Carolina, including the following areas, in southeast North
Carolina, Bladen, coastal Brunswick, coastal New Hanover,
coastal Pender, Columbus, inland Brunswick, inland New
Hanover, inland Pender, and Robeson. In northeast South
Carolina, coastal Georgetown, coastal Horry, Darlington,
Dillon, Florence, inland Georgetown, inland Horry, Marion,
Marlboro, and Williamsburg.

* Through this evening

* additional excessive rainfall is possible this afternoon and
evening where thunderstorms with heavy rain repeatedly move
over the same area. Widespread additional rainfall amounts of
1 to 2 inches are likely with the possibility of up to 4
inches in spots.

* The potential for flash flooding will be highest in urban areas
where drainage is poor.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Southerly winds will continue to produce a strong south to north
longshore current along the beaches in Pender... New
Hanover... Horry... and Georgetown counties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents, longshore currents, and other hazards create life-
threatening conditions in the surf zone. Caution should be used when
in or near the water.
