Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:55 AM CST Dec. 4, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Texas and southeast Texas... including
the following counties... in southeast Texas... Jackson. In
southeast Texas... Austin... Brazoria... Chambers... Colorado...
Fort Bend... Galveston... Harris... Liberty... Matagorda... Waller
and Wharton.

* Through this evening

* an upper level disturbance should move through the region today
bringing more rain mixed with heavier showers and thunderstorms.
Brief heavy rains will be possible mainly this morning and early
afternoon. Most of the heaviest rainfall should be over the
coastal counties. After the rainfall Saturday across the region
and especially near the coast the soils will not be able to
absorb as much rainfall. Additional heavy rains today could
quickly lead to street flooding and possibly rises on area
bayous and streams. Additional amounts of up to 3 inches will be
possible today and isolated amounts may approach 5 inches though
the greater isolated amounts may be closer to the immediate
coast. To further complicate things... elevated water levels in
the bays and nearshore Gulf will delay drainage of water.

* Street flooding and flooding of low lying areas will be the most
likely impact. As early Sunday morning... area rivers... streams
and bayous were within banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
