Issued: 7:28 PM EDT May. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* flood advisory for...
south central Henderson County in western North Carolina...

* until 915 PM EDT

* at 720 PM EDT, heavy rain from previous thunderstorms has caused
Mud Creek to exceed its banks. Isolated nuisance flooding of
low-lying areas within the advisory area may continue for the
next couple of hours as runoff continues. One to three inches
of rain has fallen over the past six hours. The heaviest rainfall
fell over the King Creek watershed. No significant additional
rainfall is expected.

* The following streamgauge has exceeded action stage:
Mud Creek at erkwood drive 1 S Hendersonville
current stage: 7.00 feet
action stage: 6.50 feet
forecasted crest: below 8.00 feet
impacts: at 7.50 feet, E. Caswell St. Is flooded from storm
culvert backwater effects underneath the Railroad tracks
adjacent to Mud Creek.

* The following streams may experience nuisance flooding:
Mud Creek, King Creek, and bat Fork creek

* some locations that may be experiencing flooding include...
Hendersonville, Flat Rock, Valley Hill, Crab Creek, East Flat Rock
and Laurel Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Turn around, dont drown.

Please report flood water flowing over roads or threatening property,
or landslides to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, or by posting on our facebook Page, or tweet
it using hashtag nwsgsp. Your message should describe the event and
the specific location where it occurred.
