Issued: 11:28 PM EDT May. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* flood advisory for...
western Caldwell County in western North Carolina...
northwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...

* until 230 am EDT

* at 1123 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that rainfall has ended
across Caldwell and Burke counties. However, runoff continues from
the recent heavy rainfall and streams remain at very elevated
levels. High water conditions are likely to persist through the
early morning hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Gamewell, Table Rock, Edgemont, Globe, Collettsville, Patterson,
Upton, Oak Hill, Lenoir and Morganton. Flooding is likely along
the Johns River 6 miles north of Morganton, impacting boat ramps
near corpening bridge Road. Minor flooding will also continue in
and around the Happy Valley community in Patterson in Caldwell
County.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Turn around, dont drown.

Please report flood water flowing over roads or threatening property,
or landslides to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, or by posting on our facebook Page, or tweet
it using hashtag nwsgsp. Your message should describe the event and
the specific location where it occurred.
