Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 10:55 AM EDT Jul. 28, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued an excessive
heat warning... which is in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening.
The heat advisory is no longer in effect.

* Temperatures... highs will reach 98 to 101.

* Heat indices... 110 to 115 degrees.

* Impacts... the accumulative effects of the heat and humidity
will lead to an increased risk of heat related illnesses...
especially among vulnerable individuals such as the sick...
the elderly... those exerting themselves outdoors... and those
without air conditioning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and
check up on relatives and neighbors.
