* Flood Warning for...
southwestern Harnett County in central North Carolina...
Moore County in central North Carolina...
Hoke County in central North Carolina...
Scotland County in central North Carolina...
Richmond County in central North Carolina...

* until 230 PM EDT

* at 833 am EDT... emergency management officials reported that many
roads remain closed this morning from heavy rain overnight. As
many as 70 percent of roads across Hoke County are closed. While
heavier rain has tapered off this morning... flooding will linger
through early afternoon.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Southern Pines... Rockingham... Raeford... Carthage... Pinehurst...
Hamlet... Aberdeen... Hoffman... Antioch and Whispering Pines.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

... Flash flood emergency continues for Cumberland... southern
Harnett... and eastern Hoke counties...

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1000 am EDT for
Harnett... eastern Hoke and Cumberland counties...

At 659 am EDT... heavier rain has diminished somewhat but flash
flooding will continue through at least mid morning in the warned
area. Morning commuters should use extreme caution as many roads
have been closed. Do not drive on flooded roads even if the Road has
not been barricaded.

The flash flood emergency continues for Cumberland... southern
Harnett... and eastern Hoke counties. This is a particularly
dangerous situation. Seek higher ground now!
