Heat Advisory
Issued: 4:54 AM EDT Jul. 28, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory in effect from noon today to 8 PM EDT this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a heat advisory... which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM EDT
this evening.

* Locations... Davie... Rowan... Cabarrus... and Union counties.

* Temperatures... highs in the upper 90s. Heat index values around
105 degrees.

* Impacts... the combination of hot temperatures and moderate
humidity will make it difficult to cool off this afternoon and
early evening. Several hours of elevated heat index values may
increase the potential for heat related illnesses. The people
groups most susceptible to the heat are small children...
elderly... people with chronic illnesses... and those without
access to air conditioning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
When possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose
fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work... the occupational safety
and health administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and
shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency - call 9 1 1.
