Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 7:58 PM EDT Apr. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of Piedmont North Carolina, including the following
areas, Alexander, Cabarrus, Catawba, Davie, Iredell,
Mecklenburg, Rowan, and Union.

* Through Tuesday morning

* additional bands of moderate rain showers will likely move west
across the North Carolina Piedmont through the early morning
hours. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches could impact
saturated areas where upwards of 3 to 5 inches have already
fallen over the past two days. Rivers and streams surrounding
the Interstate 77 corridor area are already running at elevated
levels, and additional flooding could develop near swollen
streams. Ongoing flooding could worsen as well.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
