Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 3:50 AM EDT Apr. 22, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement in effect from 7 am EDT this morning
through this evening...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a beach
hazards statement for rough surf and a moderate risk of rip
currents, which is in effect from 7 am EDT this morning through
this evening.

* Hazards... rough surf and a moderate risk of rip currents.

* Timing... from 7 am this morning through this evening.

* Location... all east central Florida beaches.

* Potential impacts... rough surf will continue at east central
Florida beaches today. The rough surf can knock you down and
make you susceptible to being caught in a rip current. A
northeast to east swell will support strong rip currents at east
central Florida beaches again today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
