The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
southeastern Northampton County in northeastern North Carolina...
southwestern Hertford County in northeastern North Carolina...

* until 945 PM EDT

* at 651 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to slow
moving and training thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small
stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain
have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Ahoskie, Rich Square, Woodland, Winton, Union, Lasker, Eagletown,
Earleys, Potecasi, Menola, Bryantown, Boones Crossroads, George,
Oak Villa, Saint John, Proctors Corner, Poor Town and Brantleys
Grove.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area
through 9 PM. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
