Flood Warning
Issued: 10:10 AM EDT Apr. 27, 2017 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for the Neuse River at Smithfield.
* At 9:15 am Thursday the stage was 24.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 18.0 feet and
major flood stage is 20 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by late
tomorrow evening or tomorrow night.
* Impact... at 23.0 feet, hospital and Buffalo roads are flooded.
* Impact... at 20.0 feet, flooding cuts off the water treatment
plants access to the Reservoir, the Smithfield Town Park and
the Neuse riverwalk at the us70 bridge are flooded. The Neuse
riverwalk will remain flooded until the River Falls below 15
feet.

The Flood Warning continues for the Neuse River near Clayton.
* At 9:15 am Thursday the stage was 9.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* The river will continue to fall to below flood stage today.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet, the Neuse River Greenway at Covered Bridge
Road begins to flood.
* Impact... at 9.0 feet, minor overflow occurs on both banks. Water
reaches the edge of the Neuse River Greenway trail.
