* at 326 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated widespread moderate to
locally heavy rain spreading over most of central NC from the
southeast. Extensive ponding on streets and flooding of poor
drainage areas has already begun. This additional rainfall will
make matters worse. Flood warnings may need to be issued if
rainfall rates increase. Between one and two inches of rain has
fallen across central NC since 8 am.

Additional rainfall of one to one and a half inches is expected over
the area through early evening. This additional rain will cause
flooding of creeks and streams. Expect delays during the late
afternoon commute.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
