The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for poor drainage areas
for...
southwestern Amherst County in central Virginia...
north central Campbell County in central Virginia...
the city of Lynchburg in central Virginia...
northeastern Bedford County in south central Virginia...

* until 1215 am EDT

* at 914 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in
the advisory area.

* One hour rainfall rates of 3 to 4 inches can be expected.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lynchburg...
Forest...
Boonsboro...
Coleman Falls...
and Naola.

The city of Lynchburg is the most likely place to experience minor
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
