western Anne Arundel County in central Maryland...

* until 415 am EDT

* at 1019 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain fell upstream
earlier tonight. Flooding is already occurring upstream and will
move down the Patuxent and little Patuxent rivers overnight.
Interests near these rivers need to seek higher ground
immediately! Significant flooding is possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Columbia... Bowie... Severn... Crofton... Elkridge... Odenton...
Laurel... Fairland... Fort Meade... Savage-Guilford... Scaggsville...

... This is a flash flood emergency for Columbia... Ellicott
City... and the little Patuxent and Patapsco rivers...

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 415 am EDT Sunday
for northern Anne Arundel County in central Maryland... southwestern
Baltimore County in northern Maryland... south central Carroll County
in north central Maryland... Howard... central Montgomery counties in
central Maryland and southeastern Frederick counties in north central
Maryland and Baltimore City...

At 1008 PM EDT... emergency management and stream gauges recorded
significant rises on the little Patuxent and Patapsco rivers.
Interests on the little Patuxent downstream of the Centennial dam
southward through Columbia down to Route 32 need to immediately seek
higher ground for rapid water rises and the potential for upstream
dam failure. There are numerous Road closures in the area and
significant flooding is also ongoing in Ellicott City. Take action
now and do not travel!!!

This is a flash flood emergency for Columbia... Ellicott City... and
the little Patuxent and Patapsco rivers. This is a particularly
dangerous situation. Seek higher ground now!
